The tallest skyscraper will rise above Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, near the Red Sea, and reach a height of over 3,280 feet.

That's at least 568 feet taller than the world's current tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which was also designed by Adrian Smith.

The skyscraper will cost around $1.2 billion to construct, while the cost of Jeddah's entire Kingdom City project is expected to run around $20 billion.

Features of Kingdom Tower include:

    Tapered wings that create an aerodynamic shape to reduce structural loading due to wind vortex shedding

    59 elevators, including 54 single-deck and five double-deck elevators, along with 12 escalators

    A 98-foot sky terrace at level 157, intended for use by penthouse occupants

    A sleek, streamlined design that was inspired by the "folded fronds of young desert plant growth," according to Dezeen

    A Four Seasons Hotel and Four Seasons-serviced apartments

    A southeast cornerstone that is directly aligned with the Ka’ba in Mecca, Islam’s holiest site.
